There are many books that offer different types of strategies to deal with failure, but this one is different. An Interview with Failure by Sam Yankelevitch tries to transform our whole perception of failure. The book has an innovative format. Failure is personified. Robin Finch, a young influencer, invites Failure on his podcast. There are 11 interviews in total. It begins by rooting a message that it's people who carry the meaning of a word and not the word itself. Failure cites its history and origin. Simply put, it revolves around the concept that it's up to us how we perceive words, so we should change our relationship with them in order for them to be useful to us. Establishing this general concept and applying it to matters of failure, this book keeps going.

I loved the main theme of this book, which is perception; it changes everything. Another thing I liked is that the author used very funny examples to prove his point. For example, millipedes don't exactly have thousands of legs, as their name implies. The new generation's words like 'YOLO' managed to become popular in no time. By using such examples, the author tried to emphasize the fact that there are no rigid meanings or rigid words. It's on us to use the words to our advantage. I would say the author has managed to convey exactly what he wants. The personification of failure made this book stand out among others on the same subject. This was a concise yet impactful book.

On the negative side, there is one factor missing in this book, and that is societal pressure. This book talks about reassessing and reestablishing perceptions of failure, but that's on an individual level. Even if one alters their perception of failure, society will still make fun of them. Despite their constructive understanding of failure, it's the mocking that affects them. The book should have expanded on that aspect.

I found no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors throughout the book. So this book was exceptionally well edited. As I explained my views,I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in reading about failure. This one offers an intriguing insight into the subject.
